WEEP NOT MAMA ✍️Great writer David Adejumo

WEEP NOT MAMA
Oh Mama!!!!
I weep for us,
Ours is a bloodline
That is rooted in pains,
And a race
That has lost its place
And culture
In the good books
of civilization…………..
Oh mama!!!!!
I weep for you,
Because the new day
Refused to dawn
At the horizons
Of Kilimanjaro
Mama!!!!!
Your back was broken
And beaten
Of course,
You were treated as nothing,
But a subject
And a “TRANSPORTABLE MERCHANDISE”,
In chains and shackles
To till a foreign soil………………..
Oh mama!!!!
Ours is a history
Rooted in shame and laden
With many flaws,
We have suffered
The worst horrors
Under the terrors
Of a foreign reign……….
Oh Mama!!!!
When shall you awake
From this slumber
You have fallen into?
Your children are basking
In the fetters
Of their past
And enslaved
In the chains
Of a false freedom…………..
Oh Mama!!!!
Your progeny are dying
In the poverty of ignorance,
And lacking in the midst
Of your abundance
Mama!!!!!
I sit at
The banks of the Nile
Chirping like a canary
To the tunes of this sad tale………….
Ours is a race
That is lost,
A fallen iroko
That was captured
And bundled like a log
Aboard the Galleons
Of slavery……………….
Arise Mama Africa!!!!!!!!!
And fight like a lion
For your freedom
Arise Mama
And flaunt your beauty
For the world to see
Though you are root
Of an ugly past………….
Arise Mama Africa!!!!!
And save your dying face,
Arise and blossom
Like a cactus
In the dawn
Of the rising sun…………………
